*Definitely Not Derby Pie* – Chocolate Walnut Pie is my own personal take on derby pie updated with extra bourbon and some orange zest for the best one yet.

Ingredients
1piecrust high quality pre-made butter piecrust OR
almond shortbread crust
½cupbutter; diced and cold
1cupflour
½cupalmond flour
½teaspoonsalt
Filling
½cupflour
½cupmelted butter
2eggs
1cupsugar
4tablespoonsbourbon
1teaspoonvanilla
1cupwalnut pieces
1 ¼cupDARK chocolate chips60% at least in my opinion
1teaspoonorange zest – optionalbut I couldn’t resist and I'm so glad I didn't.
Instructions
Food process ingredients just until it comes together. This crust it really flaky and a little difficult to work with, but it’s worth it. Just press it into the pan if it gives you too much trouble.
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Whisk together by hand the filling and dump it into the shell- a common Southern dessert technique.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the top is a light golden brown.
Serve with whipped cream.
