Green Bean Casserole

Classic green bean casserole updated with homemade cream of mushroom soup and fresh green beans make this the best version ever.

Ingredients

  • 2 + cups homemade cream of mushroom soup- depending on how creamy you like it
  • 1 ½ pounds fresh green beans; snapped and cut into 1-2 inch pieces
  • 1 can French’s fried onions
  • salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  • Place 2 quarts of water in a medium pot on high.
  • When it’s boiling, salt the water and blanch the beans for one minute.
  • Remove them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.shocking green beans
  • Toss them in the soup in a large baking dish.
  • Top with the fried onions.green bean casserole ready for oven
  • Bake until the onions are golden brown (about 30 minutes) and the beans are heated through. Serve with the rest of my Midwestern Potluck Menu.
