Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour plus a little for rolling
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup milk or less- very flour and peanut butter dependent
  • 1 cup salt and sugar free peanut butter only ingredient should be peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons blackstrap molasses

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Whisk the flour, oats and baking powder together in a medium bowl.
  • Gradually stir in the milk, peanut butter and molasses.
  • Turn out onto a floured surface. Knead until soft dough forms.
  • Roll out to ½ inch thickness and cut with a dog bone cookie cutter.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool overnight in the oven or cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

The dog cookies last about two weeks in an airtight container at room temperature. In the refrigerator four to five weeks and in the freezer you’ll get six months.
